Carpet Tile Installation

It is easier to install the carpet tiles than it is the wall-to-wall broadloom carpet that has to be stretched. You just need to know the correct technique. This style of carpet is laid in individual pieces, so deciding on the right starting place probably is the hardest part of the task. This task is finished fairly quickly, once you are able to start and your new floor will be ready to walk on in short time.

Locate the Room’s Center Point

You can use a chalk line to mark the center point from opposing corners of the room. You will need to make two chalk lines using all four corners of the room. The lines will intersect in the middle of your room. You may place on tile dead center or four tiles around the center point depending on your design. Make sure the center on it meets the center of the room and then install the other tiles out from that point.

Your Lines Need to be Square

Square your lines before you start to install the pieces of carpet. Measure out from the intersection of lines four feet on one of your lines and then measure three feet out using another line. You should have five feet in between these lines, for them to be square. You may have to make some adjustments to square the lines. Read More

Carpet Tile

If you’re like me, when you’re ready to add new flooring to your home, you probably instantly think about traditional carpeting. However, it can be such a pain to have traditional carpeting installed in your home. I didn’t want to pay big bucks to have regular carpet installed, so I began considering other options. One option I came across was carpet tiles and I choose this flooring for my home. One of the things that really drew me to carpet tiles was the fact that they can easily be installed on your own. One piece carpeting is often too difficult for individuals to handle alone. However, you can easily lay carpeting tiles on your own, resulting in a great look. Since there is no stretching required, I found they were easy to install. In fact, they didn’t take long to get in place and I was happy at how fast I had my new flooring installed. Another benefit I appreciate about carpet tiles is that they can easily be made to fit into rooms with odd shapes. I have a couple rooms in my home that are a nightmare to lay flooring in. They have strange shapes, so dealing with a large piece of carpet and trying to get it cut to the right shape can be difficult. With the tiles, it was easy to cut the tiles to fit perfectly.I was pretty happy with the price of carpet tiles as well. My budget was pretty tight, so I needed a cost-effective option. Although the tiles may be a bit more costly per square foot than traditional carpeting, I saved so much by installing it myself that it turned out to be a great deal for me.The one thing that I don’t like is that the patterns make the flooring look like it’s tiled instead of looking like one piece of carpet. However, the pattern looks pretty nice, so I can live with the fact that it doesn’t quite look like traditional carpet.
